An exceedingly cool piece of Americana, the Maccaferri G-40 was an entirely plastic archtop guitar made by Mario Maccaferri in his Bronx, NY factory. Initially selling for $39.95 in the early 1950’s, it didn’t enjoy the same popularity as his plastic ukuleles, clarinet & saxophone reeds, and plastic clothespins. Unsold stock sat in his warehouse for decades until many were sold off in the 1980’s; this is one of those guitars, still in its unopened plastic bag in the original shipping box! We also have an opened G-40 (still with the hang tag and rope cord strap!)…send us a message for more info on that guitar.
