Prior to Martin’s reintroduction of the D-45 in 1968, if you wanted a pearl topped dreadnought, you had to buy a D-28 and send it to Mike Longworth Pearl Service in Chattanooga, TN for a conversion. This 1965 D-28's conversion was completed in February of 1967, just before Martin hired Longworth to assist in bringing back the D-45. Aside from the obvious conversion work, this guitar has a replacement bridge & small maple bridge plate, as well as a replaced pickguard. A pickguard crack was repaired with an added cleat on the treble side of the X brace, a crack on the bass side of the top received a single cleat, and there is a repaired crack on the back’s bass side that was not cleated. The back has also been oversprayed. The guitar has received a neck reset and refret, and is ready to go! Comes in a hardshell case.
