This is a great example of Orpheum’s fanciest catalog model 5-string from the early 1900’s, the #3 Special. This banjo comes to us in very good condition and has the bright, crisp tone you would expect from a high end, tone ring-equipped banjo. Ornate pearl inlays and a carved neck heel add to the beauty of this fine banjo. It was fitted with a new skin head, replacement tuners, and received a fret job, imparting excellent playability. This banjo really speaks it's age...perfect for clawhammer and old-time music!
