Leedy Company began making banjos in Chicago in the mid-1920’s; this 23” scale tenor banjo hails from from the 1930’s, and sports some extras like the ornate headstock inlay and beautiful resonator inlays. Other features include a metal clad walnut rim with top tensioning metal hooks, 2 piece mahogany neck with serial number stamped on the dowel stick, walnut resonator inlaid with abalone on the back & wood inlays around the sides, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with inlays, and a skin head. All metal parts appear to be original to the banjo with the exception of the armrest. A great banjo for Irish music or old time! Comes in a period hardshell case.
