This H-1 mandola has a very pleasing, resonant & woody tone, especially as set up with flat wound strings. It features a carved spruce top with binding, two inlaid concentric rings around the oval soundhole, birch back & sides, a bound mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, and open-gear tuners. The tailpiece is the original Gibson engraved tailpiece; the bridge is a very nicely made replica adjustable bridge (complete with Patent stamp), and the tuners are Golden Era reproduction tuners. Luthier David Sheppard recently removed the back to re-glue a loose brace and re-glue the ribs at the neck block. He also dressed the frets and re-shaped the bottom of the bridge. There is one repaired crack on the top, and a small section of the back center seam was re-glued. The back was previously over sprayed, and then French polished, and a small section of the lower bout area of the sides were also French polished. This one has had all the necessary work done and is ready to play and enjoy! Comes in the original hardshell case.
