This 1912 Gibson F-2 is a striking mandolin with its black top, inlaid Handel tuner buttons, ivoroid top binding, and ivoroid rosette. The F-2 features a Sitka spruce top, birch back & sides, and a mahogany neck. The neck's prominent v-profile and 1 3/16" nut are very comfortable, and the playability is excellent with the current set up. The frets appear to be original and are still in good playing shape; the bridge, tuners, pickguard and tailpiece are also original to the instrument. The headstock scroll was professionally repaired by David Sheppard here at Lowe Vintage; there is a small repaired heel crack, a single repaired top crack near the scroll, and a repaired seam separation on the back. All repairs have been examined closely and are stable. Includes the original hardshell case.
