1965 Gibson A-40
SOLD
Case: Period hardshell case
Description:

The A-40 was introduced as part of Gibson's budget instrument line; they were immensely popular because they weren't just easy on the wallet, they sounded good too. It features a solid spruce top with binding, un-bound laminate mahogany back & sides,  rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays, adjustable rosewood bridge, and a Gibson-engraved clamshell tailpiece. The bridge, pickguard, tuners, and tailpiece are all original to the mandolin; the finish is original and unaltered. The mandolin does show some play wear, most notably some arm wear on the top, finish wear on the back and neck heel, and finish checking throughout. The only repair of note would be to the treble side headstock wing. It has received a previous partial refret and plays well...check out the demo video below! Comes in a period correct hardshell case.
