National made guitars for Sears and Roebuck during the 1930s; they were identical to their National counterparts aside from the five-vent cover plate and the “R” prefix next to the serial number. This Duolian has a well-worn “green duco” finish, and still retains the original cone and bridge. A new heel was very nicely grafted onto the original neck, and the angle was reset at that time; there is also a seam that was repaired on the treble side lower bout. The guitar is set up for a nice combination of fretting in first position and playing slide up the neck. Comes in a chipboard case.
