We are always impressed by Mr. Merrill’s vintage-inspired builds, and this interpretation of an early 30’s OM is a fantastic example of his work. It features an Adirondack spruce top with forward-shifted X-bracing, Honduran mahogany back & sides, Honduran mahogany neck with vintage “C to V” taper & 1 3/4” nut, adjustable truss rod, ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge with “through” saddle, and Waverly tuners. Merrill guitars use a thin nitrocellulose finish, and as such are more susceptible to playwear, much like a true vintage instrument. This example is in very nice shape, with some small finish imperfections around the headstock; the top exhibits some minor finish checking below the bridge but is free of any cracks or majors blemishes. The back shows only minor shirt button marks, and there are some minor capo marks at the 2nd and 4th frets. It very much feels like a well-cared for vintage instrument in your hands. Comes in the original hardshell case.
