Jim Merrill is known for his light-weight, vintage-inspired replica guitars, and this “pre-war” spec C-28 is no exception. It features an Adirondack spruce top, with forward-shifted scalloped bracing, Brazilian rosewood back, sides, Honduran mahogany neck with vintage “C to V” taper, ebony fingerboard with prewar style “diamonds & squares” inlays, 2-way adjustable truss rod, ebony vintage-style belly bridge, and Waverly tuners. The vintage neck taper on this guitar isn’t as aggressive as some Martin reissues; the neck is still quite comfortable in the upper registers. The guitar is in great cosmetic condition; some minor pickwear at the soundhole and clear coat marks on the back are the only imperfections to note. Given the ideal neck angle and lack of fret wear, this guitar was obviously given the full maintenance treatment before coming to us. Comes in a hardshell case.
