Based on the 1950 D-28 owned by Lester Flatt (and later Marty Stuart), only 50 D-28LF models were produced. It features a Sitka spruce top with 5/16” X-bracing, Brazilian rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck with low profile shape & 1 11/16” nut, ebony fingerboard with custom Mike Longworth inlay pattern, ebony bridge with long saddle, and Kluson-style tuners. This model could be ordered with the standard, smaller pickguard instead of the oversized pickguard like Lester’s, as is the case here. Other special appointments include “Lester” inlaid in pearl block at the 14th fret, and the famous “L-5” inlay at the 17th fret.  Each of the 50 produced were signed and numbered by C.F. Martin IV. Very few guitars were produced by Martin using Brazilian rosewood in the late 90’s, making this guitar even more special. The guitar shows some fret wear under the unwound strings through the first five frets; aside from a nearly imperceptible pinpoint ding and some very minor finish checking on the top, the guitar is in remarkable condition. Comes in a non-original hardshell case.
