1969 Martin D-28 Conversion
SOLD
Case: Hardshell case
Description:

This 1969 Martin D-28 ended up with a badly damaged top, so it was sent back to the Martin factory in 2015 for a new top and conversion to Authentic 1937 specifications. It received a new 1 3/4" Authentic series mahogany neck with "Diamonds & Squares" fingerboard inlay, a new torrefied Adirondack top with forward-shifted X bracing, a 1930's style ebony bridge with long drop-in saddle, and replacement matching Authentic purfling for the back. The original Brazilian headstock overlay was repurposed for the new neck, and all work was completed using hide glue. The result is a powerhouse '37 Authentic D-28 with beautiful old-growth Brazilian rosewood back & sides and a 1969 serial number. We'll have a demo video coming for this very special instrument very soon!
