This 1955 D-28 is a very nice guitar with some previous work that makes it more affordable for the player looking for a Brazilian dread. The guitar features the standard appointments for a D-28: Spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck, ebony bridge and fingerboard, tortoise-pattern pickguard, dot inlays, and waffle-back tuners. The guitar was sent back to Martin at some point for repair work; the guitar was likely oversprayed at that time, and the bridgeplate was replaced with the rosewood version. The bridge itself is not original, and the pickguard appears to be a replacement as well. The guitar has had a previous neck reset and refret, and the playability is excellent. Lowe Vintage repaired some back cracks...there are no cracks in the side or top.
