1950 Martin D-28
SOLD
Case: Hardshell case
Description:

This 1950 D-28 is an excellent player, with a beautiful set of rosewood back & sides. Standard specs for the period include a Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck with 1 11/6” nut width, ebony fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, ebony bridge, tortoise style pickguard, and “waffle back” Kluson tuners. This D-28 has seen some repairs and modifications; the double pickguards are not original to the instrument, and the bridge is an oversized replacement. The bridge plate is the correct maple material, but slightly oversized as well. There is a bit of forward lean to the bridge; the guitar was inspected closely by our luthier and everything is stable and secure. There are 6 repaired top cracks; four of them are below the bridge, one above the bridge on the bass side, and one on the bass side’s lower bout. There are 6 spruce cleats between them (mostly around the bridge area). There is also some old overspray on the back and sides. The guitar has received a previous refret and neck reset, and is ready to go in good playing condition. It has a warm, balanced tone with nice low end for a straight-braced Martin of the period. Comes in a hardshell case.
