1949 Martin D-18
$12,995.00
Case: Hardshell case
Description:

This ’49 D-18 has all of the adjectives going for it: dry & woody, loud & powerful with a nice ringing sustain. The guitar has seen some work over the years, but it’s a workhorse D-18 that will hold its own in any jam. It features the standard D-18 appointments of the time including a Sitka spruce top with straight X-bracing, mahogany back & sides, mahogany neck with 1 11/16” nut width, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, tortoise-style pickguard and body binding, and Kluson tuners. This guitar retains the original bridge, bridge plate (with small maple helper), pickguard, & tuners. It underwent several repairs to the sides, undertaken by Wayne Henderson & Herb Key, with 5 cleats on the treble side & 7 cleats on the bass side to address several cracks in these areas. There are also some small mahogany splices on the treble side, and another small splice on the bass side as well. The sides were refinished; the top appears to be an old overspray from prior. The guitar has had a previous neck reset and fretwork; it plays fantastic with the tone to match. Demo video coming soon! Comes in a hardshell case.
