1935 Martin 0-17
SOLD
Case: Hardshell case
Description:

This mid 30's 0-17 model features a mahogany top with forward x-bracing, mahogany back & sides, mahogany neck with the perfect “soft V” neck shape, and a rosewood bridge & fingerboard. The tuners would have originally been Grover G-98 type, but appear to have been switched to Klusons from the post-war period (early 1950’s). The pickguard is a later replacement, and there is a “strap button” drilled into the bass side. The body appears to have received an old overspray, and shows plenty of signs of wear. It has two repaired back cracks, one of which was cleated, but no other cracks are apparent. It has had a previous neck set and refret, (although the saddle height is getting on the low side), and the heel cap was replaced with a handmade rosewood cap. There is also an ebony bridgeplate helper installed over the original plate. This 0-17 is from one of Martin’s most revered periods, and is an extremely fun guitar to play with a woody, fundamental voice that has bass response beyond it’s diminutive size. Demo video below!
