1952 Gibson ES-5
SOLD
Case: Original hardshell case
Description:

The Gibson ES-5 was Gibson’s first triple-pickup guitar, giving players a variety of options not available before. It was so ground breaking at the time, it came with a set of typewriter-written directions which still accompany the guitar! The ES-5 features an independent volume for each of the P-90 pickups and a master tone knob on the upper cutaway. The guitar’s beautiful sunburst finish is original, with only a bit of color touch up around an old input jack crack repair. The neck finish is particularly worn, showing the beautiful maple flame and walnut center strip. The gold “waffle back” Klusons are original, as are the neck and bridge pickups. The gold Bigsby and bridge appear to be additions from the 60’s or 70’s, and the pickguard and knobs have been replaced as well. The middle pickup has been replaced, and the wiring is all modern shielded wiring. It appears the fingerboard binding was removed and the fingerboard was planed a bit, and the guitar received a refret with vintage-size wire. This is a cool vintage jazz box with a rock ’n roll heart! Includes the original hardshell case as well. Demo video coming soon.
