Introduced in 1955 as the signature model of Billy Byrd & Hank Garland, the “Byrdland” is essentially a thinbody, short-scale version of the L-5CES. It features a spruce top with rounded cutaway & 7-ply binding, beautiful carved maple back & sides with triple-bound back, maple neck with ebony fingerboard & 5-ply fingerboard binding, single bound f-holes, Flowerpot peghead inlay with 7-ply binding, block fingerboard inlays, and gold-plated hardware ( including “Byrdland” engraved tailpiece & Kluson “Sealfast” die cast tuners). What really makes this guitar unique is the 1 5/8” nut width and 23 1/2” scale length, making those extended jazz chords a breeze. 17” lower bout, 2 1/4” body depth. 

The original stickered PAF pickups and original wiring harness are in place, as are the original knobs, bridge, and selector switch; the only missing piece is the tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard which likely disintegrated long ago. The original frets are low but very playable; this is a truly stellar example! Comes in the original hardshell case.
