This 1939 Martin D-28 (serial # 72604) is an excellent player with gorgeous Brazilian back & sides and a perfectly played-in neck that feels fantastic! There has been quite a bit of repair work over the years, making this guitar (comparatively) more affordable than its more minty brethren. The top was oversprayed (likely during one of the many crack repairs or the small grafts), the bridge and bridge plate are replacements, and the tuners are non-original to the guitar. There are eight repaired cracks behind the bridge, with a bit of belly and forward bridge lean. Two small sections on the treble side lower bout were grafted. A single B string crack was repaired, as well as two cracks along the treble side fingerboard extension and one on the bass side. A small helper cleat was added on the treble side of the soundhole, and a larger one was added between the bass side of the X brace and “finger brace”. There are seven various cleats on the cracks behind the bridge. There are two repaired back cracks; the longer one was repaired with two cleats, the smaller one is not cleated. There are two small patched areas on the lower bout treble side, and two plugs on either side of the end stripe. The guitar has also received a previous neck reset and refret. 1 11/16" nut width.
