Nick Kukich started Franklin Guitar Company in 1974, after several years working in a music store that specialized in pre-war acoustic guitars. According to Franklin’s own website, they were the only company building a pre-war inspired OM-size guitar in the period from 1974 to 1978. Since then, Nick has built 600+ Franklin Guitars, including this spectacular 2003 model OM. It features an Adirondack spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck with “low C” neck profile, ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge with drop-in saddle, maple body bindings, and Waverly tuners. The truss rod is accessed through the top of the headstock- a nice design feature that makes quick adjustments a breeze. There is some light pick wear in the area a pickguard would be, and a small ding on the bass side of the top that doesn’t break the finish. And open center seam was previously addressed, and there is light fret wear 1-5 under the unwound strings. Tonally, the guitar is open and responsive- it would make an excellent instrument for about any style of music you could throw at it. Comes in a hardshell case.
